We got up from our accommodation the night before (Viking Cafe as it is called) and decided to trek back to Diamond Beach. It was a place I just couldn’t go without visiting, so hubby said let’s go. The weather was pretty bad, the roads were pure ice and you could definitely tell who was and wasn’t comfortable driving in these conditions. Living in the fridged cold, even Adam said it was pretty sketchy driving. On the bright side, we got to see some Reindeer chilling not too far from our destination as well. We finally made it back to the glaciers and Diamond Beach, where we saw a seal swimming in the glacier lagoon, which was super neat. Due to the weather, we got to put our waterproof hiking boots to the true test and they definitely held up. We also had our water resistant pants on which were lifesavers and definitely worth every penny (technically hunting pants, but did the job either way!).
After our brief stop back at the previous days location, we headed onward like planned. We opted out of some of our sightseeing options, but still kept true to most of our plan. We drove the stokksnes Peninsula, visited Höfn, and took some photos on the side of the road (at safety pull over areas) on our way to campsite Eglisstadir. We originally planned for the Vök Baths, but unfortunately they had planned yearly maintenance and we wouldn’t be able to visit this time around (maybe next time!).
