Cinque Terre

Today was beach day! We were hoping to score a diving or snorkeling tour, but the ocean was rather angry today so unfortunately, our one and only day here was spent mostly on shore. I found a small swimming area with some other people where the waves weren’t as unforgiving and was able to swim a little. I then went over to a more secluded area and sat on the edge, watching the crabs crawl up the sides of the rocks and getting splashed by the waves as they crashed into the rocks on either side of me and the wall I was sitting on. It was extremely peaceful and made me determined to do a beach only vacation in the upcoming years. Cinque Terre (specifically we were in Riomaggiore) is absolutely stunning. I wish we had more than a day and made me flash back a little to when I was in the Florida Keys scuba diving. I laid out in the sun for a while (may or may not have gotten a bit red). We checked into the hostel (up a very steep hill) and took a shower and small nap before heading out for some of the best gnocchi I’ve had in Italy yet. This is definitely an area of Italy I’d come back to in a heartbeat, though I’m sure it’s all because of the ocean. Tomorrow we head to Venice and Sunday we move on to country #2.

Great view! At least your leg was better on this trip than it was in the Keys.
